'Dance In Schools'
Positive Self Image Promoted through Dance
Eventually it is hoped that through the existence of the Academy and the experience gained from the pilot programme we will be able to deliver the second stage of the workshop programmes: 'Dance in Schools' by delivering the workshops and performances in schools free of charge.
This workshop provides participants with nutrition, exercise and positive thinking techniques & advice coupled with the fun and movement of Dance.
To get the most from this workshop a three hour session is desired but it can be tailored to suit other timetables.
Ideally suited to secondary school level the workshop compliments the Curriculum for Excellence.
A typical session will include a presentation, an activity and information to take away on each topic i.e. nutrition, exercise and positive thinking. This is followed by a dance workshop in either Irish or lyrical which could be performed at the end of the day, or for a school assembly. A team photo is taken and a video of the dance can be provided for the participants.
‘Fun of Movement’
This workshop is aimed at those who have little movement and want to enjoy the feeling and joy that music and dance brings.
The workshop includes performances from the Siamsoir troupe to many different types of music followed by a session of easy to pick up steps (ranging from clapping, tapping feet and moving in circles or groups for those who can manage it).
Music can be picked by the participants or event organiser in advance.
This workshop usually lasts for one hour but can be longer or shorter depending on your requirements.
