Social Aims
Due to the success of Siamsoir since its inception, we are now in a position to offer benefits to the communities that we live in and those further afield with which we have an affiliation.
Siamsoir aims to bring Irish Dance entertainment to everyone and improve the confidence and ambition of the people they meet through dance.
The existence of the Academy will help the company achieve these social aims by providing confidence building workshops and performances to schools and community groups free of charge, excluding the necessary travel expenses.
This means that we can visit community centres, residential care homes and schools. Sometimes we perform, sometimes we deliver tailored workshops and sometimes we do both.
Please contact us to see if you qualify to have a visit from Siamsoir.
Siamsoir Workshops:
‘Positive Self Image Promoted through Dance’
This workshop provides participants with nutrition, exercise and positive thinking techniques and advice coupled with the movement of Dance.
To get the most from this workshop a three hour session is desired but it can be tailored to suit other timetables.
Ideally suited to secondary school level the workshop compliments the Curriculum for Excellence.
A typical session will include a presentation, an activity and information to take away on each topic i.e. nutrition, exercise and positive thinking. This is followed by a dance workshop in either Irish or lyrical to be performed at the end of the day or for a school assembly. A team photo is taken and a video of the dance created in the workshop is provided for the participants. Please contact us to find out more.
‘Fun of Movement’
This workshop is aimed at those who have little movement and want to enjoy the feeling and joy that music and dance brings.
The workshop includes performances from the Siamsoir troupe to many different types of music followed by a session of easy to pick up steps (ranging from clapping, tapping feet and moving in circles or groups for those who can manage it).
Music can be picked by the participants or event organiser in advance.
This workshop usually lasts for one hour but can be longer or shorter depending on your requirements.
